26.07.10 LEXUS HYBRIDS TICK OVER NINE BILLION
Five years after the launch of its first hybrid, the RX 400h SUV, Lexus hybrids have accumulated over nine billion kilometres^.
The milestone has been achieved via Lexus' four hybrid models, featured on the LS, GS, RX and HS Line.
The feat is equivalent to circumnavigating the globe over 224 thousand times*.
Lexus chief executive Tony Cramb said the milestone is testament to Lexus' unique hybrid drivelines.
"Five years ago Lexus' rivals thought hybrid vehicles were just a science experiment, but today these same companies are scrambling to release their own hybrid-powered vehicles," said Mr Cramb.
"Nine billion kilometres is a fantastic head start for Lexus.
"Innovation has been a hallmark of Lexus vehicle design. Today that innovation, in the form of Lexus Hybrid Drive, is a proven and trusted driveline alternative," Mr Cramb said.
"Lexus is committed to hybrid, with numerous hybrid vehicles in the development pipeline and several on their way, including the all-new CT 200h next year.
"Lexus is proud to lead the way in luxury hybrids and looks forward to continuing to offer consumers a viable, reliable and powerful driveline option in hybrid," Mr Cramb said.
