Upgraded Lexus LX flagship SUV offers customers even greater choice, capability and technology
Lexus Australia’s flagship LX luxury off-road SUV now offers adventurous Lexus customers enhanced driver assist features, technology, specifications, and an additional grade choice for 2025.
Launched locally in 1998, the LX has carved an enviable reputation for an unrivalled blend of luxury, performance and capability both on and off-road. Enhancements to the current third generation serve to further bolster its appeal.
Customers are offered a new variant in the adventure-ready Overtrail grade, which builds on the exceptional ground-covering ability of the LX to further improve its capability over rough terrain.
All other LX grades gain improvements to enhance their respective levels of luxury.
Lexus Australia Chief Executive John Pappas said that the updated LX range is the perfect choice for customers seeking a blend of opulence, performance, comfort and go-anywhere capability.
“For decades, Lexus customers have relied on the LX to transport them across the country in utmost comfort, whether on the open road or through challenging outback terrain,” Mr Pappas said.
“The Overtrail grade expands customer choice while the suite of enhancements across the board heightens the sense of luxury.
“The choice of two powerful twin-turbocharged engines is well suited to Australian conditions, with customers also extended an unrivalled ownership experience commensurate with our flagship SUV.”
The addition of the Overtrail model grade brings the number of LX variants to 11, ensuring there is an LX suited to every customer’s needs.
The LX lineup opens with the generously specified seven-seat Luxury grade, which expands its extensive standard equipment with new active safety technology and upgrades to multimedia and comfort features.
Priced from $158,700 plus on-road costs for the LX 500d and $162,200 for the LX 6001, the latest LX range offers greater protection for occupants and other road users with an expansion of the Lexus Safety System+ suite of active safety technologies.
The LX Pre-Collision System autonomous emergency braking technology is improved to now detect bicyclists at night, motorcycles during the day, and vehicles when crossing at an intersection.2
Acceleration suppression at low speeds may help prevent accidents from unintended throttle inputs, while the lane keeping feature now includes emergency driving stop system (EDSS) which is designed to bring the vehicle to a slow stop in the event of an emergency when the adaptive cruise control system is activated.2
EDSS is facilitated through the use of a newly available driver monitor camera, offering facial recognition capability to set the vehicle up with customised user settings.2
Safe exit assist is also offered, linking with the blind spot monitor to warn occupants of approaching vehicles and cyclists when exiting the vehicle.2
Along with enhanced safety equipment, additional technology features include a new fully digital 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, replacing the existing 8.0-inch unit.
The inclusion of wireless Android Auto™3 to the existing wireless Apple CarPlay®4 provides easy wireless connectivity for more customers. For those preferring wired connections, a USB-C port replaces the existing USB-A port, bringing the total number of USB-C ports throughout each LX to six.
Other enhancements to the LX Luxury include soft-close doors, a front HDMI port and a centre console cool box to help keep beverages cool on longer journeys.
The exhaustive standard specification of the LX Luxury may be bolstered with the addition of an Enhancement Pack for $5,500, which increases alloy wheel size from 20 to 22 inches and adds a moon roof and hands-free tailgate with kick sensor.
Positioned above the LX Luxury are the opulent Sports Luxury, dynamic F Sport or terrain-conquering Overtrail, each offering a similar level of specification with unique enhancements to suit the owner’s taste.
The five-seat Sports Luxury is offered from $176,300 plus on-roads for the LX 500d and $179,800 for the LX 600 in five-seat guise. Adding a third row brings the asking price to $178,900 and $183,600 respectively.1
The Sports Luxury now adds front-row massaging seats and four-way manual adjustable headrests to its premium leather-accented upholstery, ‘Takanoha’ woodgrain ornamentation and Rear Seat Entertainment system.
The new five-seat Overtrail is focused on allowing LX customers to travel further off-road than ever before, and is priced from $182,300 and $185,800 plus on-road costs for the LX 500d and LX 600 respectively1. Standard front and rear locking differentials and 18-inch alloy wheels shod in chunky 265/70R18 Toyo®5 Open Country all-terrain tyres underscore its credentials.
The Overtrail is further differentiated from its LX siblings by multiple black exterior touches and unique front and rear bumpers, along with its exclusive Moon Desert paint colour6. Inside, ‘Monolith’ olive-coloured stitching and Sumi Black ornamentation are unique to the Overtrail.
The five-seat F Sport is priced identically to the Overtrail, offering a suite of unique performance-oriented upgrades which set it apart from the rest of the LX range.
The F Sport’s unique features include black mesh grille, front and rear bumper and black 22-inch alloy wheels. The F Sport is the only member of the LX line-up to offer a rear Torsen®5 torque-sensing limited-slip differential and performance dampers for better road holding.
Like the Sports Luxury, the F Sport now gains massaging function and four-way manually adjustable headrests for the unique F Sport front seats, with special sporty touches applied through the cabin to the steering wheel, shift knob, aluminium pedals and Takumi-inspired aluminium ornamentation.
The flagship of the LX range continues to be the VIP-grade, four-seat LX 600 Ultra Luxury, offered exclusively in petrol guise from $220,950 plus on-road costs.1
Now adding four-way adjustable front headrests (power adjustable for the passenger) and a second wireless smartphone charger7 in the front row to match the existing charger in the rear, the LX 600 Ultra Luxury provides incredible rear-seat comfort with two individual chairs separated by a rear centre console with a multimedia touch panel.
The Ultra Luxury seats feature heating, ventilation and massage function, exclusive quilting, larger headrests, 48-degree recline, two memory positions and a folding ottoman for the passenger-side rear seat, facilitated by sliding the front passenger seat forward.
The LX range continues to be offered with the choice of two proven smooth and powerful twin-turbocharged and intercooled V6 engines in both petrol and diesel guise.
LX 600 grades employ a 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged petrol V6 developing a muscular 305kW at 5200rpm and 650Nm from 2000-3600rpm, while the LX 500d’s 3.3-litre twin-turbo diesel engine develops 227kW at 4000rpm and 700Nm from 1600-2600rpm.
Both engines are mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission, sending power to all four wheels via a full-time four-wheel drive system with a locking centre differential and low-range transfer case.
Every LX provides superb off-road capability with standard Active Height Control hydraulically adjustable suspension, Multi-Terrain Select, Multi-Terrain Monitor, Downhill Assist Control and Crawl Control.2
As a flagship L-Series model from Lexus, every LX customer receives a three-year complimentary subscription to leading Lexus Encore Platinum8 owner privileges and benefits. These include luxury lifestyle pleasures such as Lexus On Demand9, Valet Parking, Lexus DriveCare10 and complimentary access to airport lounges.
The Lexus Warranty Experience provides each new LX with a five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty for peace of mind11 and five-year Lexus Capped Price Servicing.12
Luxury, Sports Luxury and Ultra Luxury customers can choose from five different exterior colours: Sonic Quartz, Titanium, Liquid Metal, Graphite Black and Khaki Metal. Overtrail adds the new Moon Desert hue, while F Sport gains White Nova in place of Sonic Quartz.6
