Lexus celebrates over 200,000 cumulative sales in Australia in 2025 with record electrified share
2025 was a year of milestones for Lexus with the brand celebrating its 35th anniversary in Australia and achieving over 200,000 sales since its launch.
From its early beginnings as a challenger player, the luxury lifestyle brand continues to push boundaries. At the 2025 Japan Mobility Show, Lexus launched the new brand direction of ‘DISCOVER’, a mindset that reignites the pioneering spirit of Lexus.
Lexus has celebrated a record electrified share in 2025 at 76.5 per cent, meaning almost four in every five vehicles sold were either HEV, PHEV or BEV powertrains. This is up from the previous record set in 2024 of 74.3 per cent electrified share.
The dynamic and exhilarating mid-size NX remained the most popular Lexus model in 2025 for the 11th consecutive year, accounting for 41.4 per cent of all Lexus sales. Of those sales, 83.2 per cent of all NX deliveries were electrified – either HEV or PHEV. Since launching in 2014, Lexus has now sold over 45,000 vehicles in the NX range.
Refined and commanding, the family-sized RX range was the second most popular model in 2025 with 2,126 deliveries. 84.4 per cent of all RX sales were electrified, cementing the brand’s leadership in hybrid technologies.
In 2025, Lexus continued to offer customers the luxury of choice with a range of vehicles and powertrains that meets their needs – ensuring no one is left behind on their electrified journey.
At the heart of the Lexus brand is the philosophy of Omotenashi - the Japanese spirit of hospitality. This is evident through the Lexus dealer network which celebrated two major milestones in 2025. Two Lexus stand-alone sales and service dealerships have been opened, increasing the Lexus dealer network beyond 30 locations. In addition, a further six Lexus dealers have undertaken significant enhancements to their facilities.
The Lexus Omotenashi philosophy is further embodied through the signature, market-leading ownership program – Encore.
Lexus Australia Chief Executive Jack Hobbs:
“With 35 years of presence and more than 200,000 cumulative sales, 2025 was a remarkable year for Lexus in Australia.
“As a leader in luxury hybrid technology, it’s fantastic to see our electrified sales share now accounting for 76.5 per cent of all Lexus sales. The availability of BEV, PHEV, HEV and ICE technology is the embodiment of our multi-pathway approach – the luxury of choice.
“As we turn to the new year, 2026 is set to be another exciting year for Lexus with the introduction of two exciting new vehicles; the new-generation ES luxury sedan and the new RZ range.
“The all-new ES will introduce next-generation Lexus battery-electric powertrain technology along with an elevated level of occupant luxury. The spacious cabin is crafted around its occupants, together with advanced technologies to enrich the human connection.
“In addition, the highly anticipated new Lexus RZ BEV range is set to launch in the first half of the year with technological innovations and new levels of performance. The line-up will be headlined by the F Sport – a first for RZ – and feature the innovative steer-by-wire and Interactive Manual Drive with virtual manual gear-shifting.
“Through the collective efforts of our team, dealers, suppliers and customers, 2025 was a fantastic year for Lexus in Australia and 2026 is set to build on that momentum.”
